Palo Alto
Palo Alto is a culmination of everything I learned in my four years of studying fashion product development and design. My project partners, Hannah Wilkinson and Haylee Conway, and I found a target market after researching demographics, trends and materials. Our three design aesthetics, while very different, produced a cohesive palette and line.
We designed Palo Alto with the West Coast commuter in mind. Our target customer was older Millennial men who use alternative transportation, i.e. bicycles, subways, buses, etc. Using programs including, but not limited to, Lectra Kaledo, Gerber Patternmaking, Lectra PLM and Adobe Creative Cloud, we designed a line of sportswear-inspired business casual separates with functional features using sturdy, quality textiles.
Here you'll find sample images of various processes used to design one particular item, a chore coat we decided to call "The Prescott," as well as the final sample, worn with a pair of pants and an oxford shirt from the same collection. The chore coat includes metal button closures along the front placket, large pockets with velcro closures, a fold collar and a light flannel lining in the bodice.
This was the most satisfying, rewarding studio project I've completed to date. Being able to utilize all of the tools I'd been given over the past four years was humbling, stressful and, at some times, even fun. I'm so proud of these designs.
